Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible to participate?

All residents of the United States are eligible to compete.

Can I participate in multiple events?

Yes, athletes can participate in as many events as they would like. Athletes will receive a t-shirt and medal for every event they register for.

Does this qualify me for future State Games of America events?

With COVID-19 limiting qualification opportunities in many states, athletes that participate in the Virtual Games will qualify for the 2022 State Games of America (with the exception of Figure Skating, Swimming and Track & Field).

What do I receive for participating in the Virtual Games?

Participants will receive a State Games of America Virtual Games t-shirt and medal.

When will I receive my shirt and medal?

The first round of shipments will take place in early November for those who have registered prior to the shipping date. The second shipping round will take place after December 8th when registration closes.

Why does it take so long to receive my medal and t-shirt?

Due to the global pandemic, production and shipping on the medals is expected to take significantly longer. We expect the medals to arrive by November and will start shipping them out to all registered athletes.

Why are there not gold, silver and bronze medals given?

With the event being virtual, each athlete will experience a different competition environment or race on a different course, making it hard to compare one person’s results to another. As a result, every athlete will be rewarded with a Virtual Games gold medal t-shirt for being active and participating in their sport.

Can athletes outside of the United States compete?

At this time due to shipping costs, the Virtual Games registration is open to only residents of the United States of America. If you are located outside of the U.S. and would like to participate, please reach out to us at virtualgames@stategamesofamerica.com.

Why isn't my name inlcuded on the results?

Your name may not be included in the results for two reasons. 1) You have not have registered for the Virtual Games. Athletes must be registered in order to have their results submitted on the Virtual Leaderboard. 2) You may not have successfully submitted your results. Email virtualgames@stategamesofamerica.com if you submitted results that are not displayed on the Leaderboard (please allow a few days for us to update the Leaderboard).

How long do I have to submit my results?

Please submit your results by December 8th, 2021.
